Articles from previous issues of Royalty Digest

From time to time we will offer a random selection articles which have appeared in Royalty Digest from its inception in July, 1991 to the present. If you wish to read more, back issues of Royalty Digest are available either loose or in bound volumes.

We start with two articles the first by the editor and the second by Charlotte Zeepvat.

This article, written by Paul Minet, appeared split over three issues of Royalty Digest during 2001 as:

Reading Between the Lines:
A Hotch Potch
(Issue 127 - volume XI. No.7)
More Reading Between the Lines
(Issue 128 - volume XI. No.8)
Even More Reading Between the Lines:
Some final Interpolations by Miss Grizel Gray of Walmer
(Issue 130 - volume XI. No.10)

A collection of books was acquired by Piccadilly Rare Books from a Manchester bookdealer. Most were found to be heavily annotated and contained many related clippings from newspapers, magazines etc. The comments and clippings were gathered from the early twenties continued up to the nineties. Miss Gray's attention to detail and comments sparked this series of articles which touch upon most of the European royal houses.

This article by Charlotte Zeepvat appeared in the July 2000 issue

The Queen and Uncle E (Issue 109 - Volume X No.1)

An exploration of the troubled relationship between Queen Victoria and her brother-in-law Ernst, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

Reflections on 'The Lost Prince' (Issue 141 - Volume XII No. 9)

Prompted by the success of the BBC two part drama based around the life of Prince John, 'The Lost Prince', Charlotte Zeepvat has written her view of the programme. In this article she highlights the difficulties that arise between artistic and historical interpretation. Her article appears in the February, 2003 issue.
